T'is Easter

Today is Easter Sunday. I've often wondered about some of the traditions that are forced upon us, presumably by the candy makers. I made a Facebook post today wishing everyone a "Happy Easter". Then, I immediately started wondering about the holiday itself.  Where did all of these so called "traditions" come from?
As a child, my sister and I would always get a new dress to wear to church, along with a basket sometimes wrapped in cellophane, sometimes not, with a toy, usually a stuffed animal of some sort and various candies. I don't recall the reasoning that was bestowed upon us. I know we went to church and they must have had sermons on what "Easter"  meant and why we celebrate it, but I don't recall much if any of what was said. All I know is that it is a dealing with Jesus Christ and the fact that he was crucified and was resurrected.
The part that still confuses me is the reasoning for the rabbit and candy. I don't get it.  It seems to me that those things are put there for the benefit of someone who has no idea who Jesus is, or why we celebrate the "rebirth".

Hmm... research must be what should come next.  I'll get back to you on that.  J

Sons and Grandsons

I talked with Brian yesterday. I know it has been a long time since he and his son have talked.  Over a year as a matter of fact. I made an executive decision that the rift in their relationship has gone on long enough. I've made progress, at least now they are talking to each other.

Turkey Talk

I have issues...Thanksgiving used to be one of my favorite holidays. Spending quality time with friends and family were important to me. I don't look forward to it as much as I used to due to problems and issues with family.
Roger has two sons.  Jared is the oldest and grew up to be a Harvard Law graduate. I am having a hard time trying to refrain from just slamming him, because in my opinion, he is the root of the problem. He has ruined the holiday season completely for me. It sucks! Logan is the younger of the two and I think he honestly means well, but has followed his older brothers example for many years. Which also in my opinion is not a good example. To keep is short and sweet, they have both been a couple of jerks over the last few years.  They have caused me, Angie and I am sure Roger some major issues, all because they are quite self centered and the older is about as arrogant as they come; a trait he no doubt learned from his mother.
